Personal Chef Services in Boulder, CO: What’s Included, Who It’s For, and How to Book

If you’ve been curious about hiring a personal chef in Boulder but weren’t sure exactly how it works, this post is for you. I’ll walk you through what a weekly personal chef service actually includes, what kinds of households tend to get the most out of it, and how simple the booking process really is.

No vague promises, just a clear picture of what you’re getting and whether it makes sense for your life. Here is a pricing guide!

What’s Included in a Weekly Personal Chef Service

A lot of people assume a personal chef is just someone who shows up and cooks dinner. In reality, the service covers much more than that. Here’s what a typical weekly engagement looks like:

Menu Planning Tailored to Your Household

Before each cook day, we’ll align on a menu that reflects your tastes, your schedule, and any dietary needs. Whether you’re eating gluten-free, following an anti-inflammatory protocol, managing multiple allergies, or just want wholesome food that your kids will actually eat, the menu is built around you, not a template.

Grocery Shopping

I handle all the shopping. For Boulder-area clients, that often means sourcing from local farms, the Boulder Farmers Market, or Whole Foods and Sprout’s when the season calls for it. You’ll either provide a grocery budget or we’ll agree on an allowance upfront — no surprise charges.

In-Home Cooking

Once a week, I come to your kitchen and cook your full week’s worth of meals in a single session. Most cook days run 3 to 5 hours depending on the volume and complexity of the menu. You don’t need to be home, many clients prefer to be out of the house while I work.

Portioned, Labeled, and Fridge-Ready Meals

Everything gets portioned by meal, labeled with the dish name and reheating instructions, and stored in your fridge . You come home to a week’s worth of meals that are genuinely ready to eat. No assembly, no guesswork.

Full Kitchen Cleanup

When I leave, your kitchen is cleaner than I found it. Every dish, pan, and surface is taken care of. This is one of those details that clients mention again and again as one of their favorite parts of the service.

Who Gets the Most Out of a Personal Chef in Boulder

Boulder has a uniquely food-conscious community, which means the households I work with here tend to have higher expectations and more specific needs than the average meal delivery customer. The clients who tend to find the most value in this service are:

  • Busy professionals, Small Business owners and dual-income families who want nourishing, home-cooked meals on the table every night without spending their evenings in the kitchen
  • Health-focused households managing specific dietary protocols, keto, paleo, AIP, low-FODMAP, or medically-guided nutrition plans that require real precision
  • Families with food allergies who need more than a filtered menu. They need someone who understands cross-contamination and takes the responsibility seriously
  • Hosts who entertain regularly and want occasional dinner party menus handled with the same care as their weekly meals

I’m based in Broomfield and serve clients throughout Boulder, the greater Denver metro, and surrounding communities. If you’re not sure whether you’re in my service area, just ask.

Why Boulder Is a Natural Fit for This Kind of Service

I’ve worked in a lot of different markets, and Boulder stands out. The combination of a deeply health-conscious culture, access to incredible local produce, and a community that genuinely values knowing where their food comes from makes this one of the best places in the country to do this work well.

Being able to source from the Boulder Farmers Market, work with local ranchers, and build menus around what’s actually in season — that’s something a meal delivery box can’t replicate. It shows up in the quality of the food, and clients notice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a large kitchen or special equipment?

Not at all. I work with whatever kitchen you have. A standard home kitchen is more than enough!  I bring any specialty tools I might need.

How far in advance do I need to book?

I typically ask for at least a week’s notice to get started, which gives us time for our intro call, menu planning, and scheduling your first cook day. For ongoing weekly service, we’ll find a recurring day and time that works for your household.

What if I need to skip a week?

Life happens. Just let me know at least a few days in advance and we’ll skip or reschedule your cook day without any hassle. There’s no penalty for the occasional off week.

Do you serve areas outside Boulder?

Yes! I serve clients throughout Broomfield, Denver, Lafayette, Louisville, Erie, and surrounding areas. If you’re in the broader Boulder–Denver corridor, there’s a good chance you’re in range. Send me a note and we’ll confirm.

Ready to see if this is a good fit for your household?

Fill out the contact form and tell me a little about what you’re looking for. I’ll get back to you within one business day, and we’ll take it from there. No pressure, no commitment required.
